Hastig traffic dashboards
Visualizing mobility flows and
traffic incidents
Hastig is a traffic consultancy that builds online tools using available mobility data. For their three main tools they needed a consistent interface design. The tools consist of three dashboards that need to be suitable for analysis on large screens (for example for government employees and construction companies) as well as for on-the-go use on tablets and smartphones (for traffic controllers and event organizers). One of the challenges was to create color schemes for charts that sometimes contain more than 10 categories and still need to be usable for people with color blindness.
I designed an intuitive and neutral interface with accessible color schemes. I also did the front-end development of the dashboards, in such a way that Hastig could easily integrate them with their back-end system and database.

Above: the Traffic Incidents tool is geared towards construction companies and event organisers. It shows all traffic incidents in a specific area over a specific period of time, enabling the organization to solve mobility issues and dangers in that area.
Above: the Traffic Trends tool is geared towards cities and local governments. It shows how traffic volumes and speeds increase or decrease per hour or day in a specific area. Professionals can use this tool (for example) to find out how traffic in their city moves through rush hour, and take steps to improve the flow.
Above: the Intersection Traffic tool is geared towards construction companies and road authorities and shows exactly what happens around specific intersections: delays, queues and traffic jams. That way professionals can find out what it is exactly that goes wrong at congested intersections in order to solve the problem.
